Sport has the power to build confidence, resilience and ambition, yet too many girls continue to face barriers that limit their participation. That's why Sky commissioned the Women in Sport Report 2025, an in-depth study examining the challenges facing girls and young women in sport today. The report found that girls aged 11–18 participate significantly less in sport than boys, with barriers ranging from unequal access to opportunities and facilities to concerns around confidence, body image and belonging. These findings reinforce the importance of creating environments where girls feel welcomed, supported and empowered to take part. Sky has called for national action and offered to work in partnership with government, education and the media to break down barriers preventing girls from participating in sport. Against this backdrop, Sky Kids Investigates: Girls Changing The Game set out to hear directly from young people. Exploring the realities of girls' sport through the experiences of those navigating it every day, the short film shines a light on both the challenges that remain and the people helping to drive positive change. By putting young voices at the heart of the conversation, the programme delivers an inspiring and thought-provoking look at what it will take to ensure every girl has the opportunity to thrive through sport.
