EFL: The Play-Offs at 40
EFL: THE PLAY-OFFS AT 40

There really is nothing like the EFL Play-Offs. The sound of thousands believing that this could finally be their year. For forty years, they've given supporters the impossible dream and the unbearable rollercoaster that comes with it. From unforgettable goals to crushing near misses, from legends in the making to unlikely heroes, these matches have produced some of English football's most iconic moments. Today, the play-offs are woven into the fabric of the game but in 1987, they were an experiment. An idea that would transform the Football League forever. The format may have been tinkered with over time but forty years later, we're looking back at the stories, the characters and the moments that made it the most dramatic, and in the case of The Championship the richest, finale in football.
